January - Palestine Animated

The selected films are all from Palestinian filmmakers and show some of the millions of different realities of what it means to simply be a human being living under occupation and ongoing colonisation. The works vary from descriptions of deeply internal emotions, to descriptions of genocide. The films show the beauty of life as well as the extreme ugly violence towards human beings and the land on which we dwell.

With animation we hope to depict; to show, what is otherwise difficult or impossible… The abstractions of the work will hopefully create or leave space for feelings, perhaps leave some hopes for our fragile lives and the will to resist through whatever means possible.  - Palestine Animated, 19.01.2026

Palestine Animated is a collective of Palestinian and international animation film directors whose films touch upon different aspects of Palestinian lives in their art.

During the ongoing genocide on the Palestinian people, we felt the need to come together in support of each other as a community of artists, creating stronger bonds between each other and helping get our films out to a broader audience: showcasing stories about Palestine. The aim of our group is to show different expressions of animated art by and about Palestine.

The collective aims to bring us together despite the fractures of exile and separation by the occupation. The directors come from Gaza, West Bank and belong to the international diaspora that´s spread all over the world.
