In this presentation, Rashid Masharawi, founder, producer, and filmmaker, introduces the Gaza Film School, a digital initiative that reimagines film education under conditions of siege, restricted movement, and limited infrastructure. By bringing international educators online and delivering training directly to young people in Gaza, the program creates access where traditional pathways are not possible.
Rooted in urgency and resilience, the school supports emerging filmmakers in developing their own stories using accessible tools, while receiving mentorship from industry professionals. Cinema here becomes more than craft, it is a means of preserving collective memory, asserting identity, and creating space for future imaginaries.
The presentation also highlights the role of the Masharawi Fund, which supports filmmakers across development, production, and post-production through funding, training, and technical guidance, helping sustain a vital cinematic ecosystem in Gaza.
