Palestinian Film Festival Amsterdam (PFFA)

Palestinian Film Festival Amsterdam (PFFA)

Founded in 2015, the Palestinian Film Festival Amsterdam began as a grassroots initiative in response to the exclusion of indigenous Palestinian directors from film programs in the Netherlands. It was originally launched as a protest against the dominance of Western filmmakers in Palestinian film festivals, which limited opportunities for seasoned Palestinian directors to share their work and authentic perspectives.

In response, PFFA envisioned an inclusive platform to showcase a wide range of genres—including drama features, shorts, animations, and documentaries—created by both established and emerging Palestinian filmmakers. The festival has grown from a grassroots action into a professional organization committed to inclusivity, diversity, and the continuous exploration of Palestinian cinematic narratives.

As the only Palestinian film festival in the Benelux region, PFFA draws audiences from metropolitan areas across the region and continues to amplify the voices of Palestinian filmmakers.
