Synopsis:
The Last Mayor of Jerusalem is a character-driven story told from the perspective of Rawhi Khatib, the last serving Palestinian mayor in Jerusalem. The story unfolds over 20 years between the two Arab-Israeli wars. Following the Nakba (1948) which segregated Jerusalem into East and West, Rawhi’s determination helped a proud people rebuild from the ruins of destruction, displacement and death. But then came the Naksa (1967), and the city’s fate hung in the balance again

Janay Bolous
Kinda Kurdi is an award-winning filmmaker and TV producer with 16 years experience creating documentary and animation across multi-platforms. Her work has aired on various channels including broadcast credits spanning the BBC, Cartoon Network, Channel 4 news, Ro’ya & KTV. Kinda’s latest documentary is currently airing on Channel 4 ‘Guns, Gangs and Second Chances’. Her previous documentary short “As Above So Below” garnered her an award for Best Documentary short at the EIFF Festival and shortlisted amongst festivals in London, Venice and the United States.
Janay Bolous is a Lebanese filmmaker and documentary producer based between Lebanon and London. She has extensive experience across news, broadcast, digital, and field production. Her first feature documentary Birds of War premiered at Sundance 2026 where it won a Special Jury Award as part of the World Cinema Documentary Competition. She is producing several documentaries for international outlets, including Al Jazeera and The New York Times, as well as her second feature documentary, Until the Buzzing Stops.
